What are Dual Studies?

“Dual studies” is an educational system that combines the theoretical study with the practical application. Al-Quds University launched the Dual Studies in 2015 with funding from the German Government through GIZ. Dual Studies have been designed to contribute to raising the professional level of the Palestinian youth and providing good jobs for students after graduation. Moreover, it aims to bridge the gap between the academic educational outcomes and the needs and requirements of the Palestinian labor market.

 Which courses does the Dual Studies offer?

Dual Studies offer the following specializations:

  • Electric Engineering
  • Information Technology
  • Business Administration

 What is the Dual Studies’ educational plan?

Teaching is conducted by an accredited academic plan drafted by the academic staff of Electrical Engineering, Information Technology and Business Administration programs.

Students enroll in the Dual Studies program which takes them four years to complete an undergraduate degree alternating between theoretical study and practical application, with each lasting three months. An academic advisor is assigned to the task of following up with each group

 Was the Dual Studies educational system accredited by the Ministry of High Education?

The Electrical Engineering and the Information Technology programs were accredited by the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission.

 How many credit hours does the Dual Studies student need to graduate?

Electrical Engineering Program requires 162 credit hours and Information Technology and Business Administration Programs require 140 credit hour each.

 Where do theoretical and practical studies take place?

Study takes place in Al Quds University campus in Abu Dis for all programs. In addition, a section in Beit Hanina was opened for Business Administration Program. Students spend the practical courses at Palestinian partner companies after passing a test and / or an interview.

 What is the degree I get when I graduate from Dual Studies?

The students earn a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Information Technology or Business Administration after completing each program’s requirements.

What is the period I spend in studying?

Four years divided into theoretical and practical periods in half, switching between each every three months.

How long is the annual vacation I get?

Students take off all official holidays decided by the University during the theoretical study.  Moreover, students get a vacation of 7 days paid by the partner company that they work at.

How many students are in each program?

Each program includes 25 students.

What are the advantages that Dual Studies offer?

What are the fees and tuitions?

Registration fees are the same of the normal courses’ while tuition rates per credit hours are: 55 JOD for Electrical Engineering program and 50 JOD for each of the Information Technology and Business Administration programs.

Do I receive any kind of financial support during my studies?

There are chances for receiving scholarships. In addition, Dual Studies students receive a monthly allowance of around 200 $ from the partner company for the practical period they spend there. Distinctive students get the chance to receive short-term apprenticeships in German Companies

May I transfer credit hours when I enroll in the Dual Studies?

Students who are willing to transfer to one of the Dual Studies programs may apply after completing all enrollment’s requirements. No previously earned credit hours will be counted.

What are the chances of being offered a job after graduation?

Dual Studies’ students have better work chances than others due to the practical experience gained during their course of study.

What admission requirements do I need?

  • To pass Tawjihi exam or any equivalent certificate according to Al-Quds University’s requirements
  • To complete all Al-Quds University’s admission requirements
  • To Acquire good level in English
  • To pass a test and/or an interview as determined by the partner company

How can I apply for Dual Studies?

The applicant should pass a test and/or an interview as determined by the partner company. After signing a contract with the company and the University, the applicant registers in the Dual Studies taking into account the admission requirements of Al-Quds University.
