Al-Quds University signed a partnership agreement with Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation

Jerusalem | Al-Quds University signed a partnership agreement with Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation for Education, which aims to grant a number of scholarships to the Dual Studies Program Students starting from the educational year 2018-2019.

The scholarship covers all the years of study. It includes study tuitions and accommodation expenses. The foundation dedicates the grants to students from Electrical Engineering and Information Technology departments in the program.

Al-Quds University founded the Dual Studies department in 2015. The university grants a bachelor degree to the program's students, which is funded by the German government, with cooperation with over than 130 Palestinian companies. This makes Al-Quds University the first university in the Arab World that has a department that stands on the idea of combining the academic aspect with the practical one; which gives the students the chance to engage in the labor market before their graduation.

It is worth mentioning that this agreement came to highlight a partnership relationship, which started a few months prior to the visit of the president of Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation, Maysa Jalbout, to Al-Quds University. She met with Prof. Imad Abu Kishk, the president of the university, where they discussed ways of cooperation between the university and the foundation.

Prof. Imad Abu Kishk expressed his gratitude for the foundation by signing the agreement, which in return, will provide educational opportunities for the enrolled students, or for those wanting to study in the Dual Studies department. The professor highlighted the great effort the university spends within the networking framework with the different educational institutions to provide help and educational opportunities for its students.

Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation is considered to be one of the biggest charitable educational initiatives that are funded by the private sector in the Arab World. It was founded in 2015, with its main office located in Dubai. It grants more than one thousand scholarships to students in a number of countries in the Arab World; to the top students or to the students with limited income.

The project "More Job Opportunities for Palestinian Youth" through Dual Studies at Al-Quds University, assisted by the German Government,
is being carried out by GFA Consulting Group on behalf of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
