Dual Studies Students' Honors Ceremony

On Tuesday March 13, Al-Quds University honored Dual Studies students for their academic excellence in the fall semester of 2017/2018 in Arabic Poetry Hall – Al-Quds University’s main campus in Abu Dis. The students were from the programs of Electrical Engineering, Business Administration and Information Technology. Many distinguished persons attended the ceremony, such as Dr. Rachel Folz from the German Office, Ms. Kirsten Freimann from GIZ, university vice president, faculties' deans, partner companies' representatives along with students' close families. During the ceremony, the University honored Smart Home Group Company, as well as Sultan Smart Technology Company, for their generous donations to its labs.

The university's choir opened the ceremony with a few musical performances. This was followed by the opening speech of Dr. Hasan Dweik, university vice president, where he congratulated the students for their accomplishments, and he voiced his gratitude for the program, funded by the German government. He said, "Dual Studies Program is a unique system, since it is going to be one of the most effective solutions to solve the problem of unemployment, as it will qualify its students to get a job as soon as they graduate."   

In her speech, Dr. Rachel Folz expressed her appreciation for the commitment of Dual Studies partner companies. She also asserted her admiration for the program's capacity and readiness to polish the practical skills for its students to integrate easily in the labor market. By the end of her speech, Dr. Folz expressed how proud the German Representative Office is to be a part of and to support Dual Studies. She added that the Office sees Dual Studies at Al-Quds University as a model for success. She finally communicated the German Office's desire to continue with its support for the program.

On his part, Dual Studies dean, Prof. Dr. Salah Odeh blessed the efforts of those who insisted on starting the program and on making it successful. He also thanked the program's team and directors. Then, he congratulated the students on their outstanding performance, and he wished them more success and excellence in the future. 

Aya Dadu', Dual Studies Students' spokesperson in the ceremony, concluded the opening speeches by speaking about her experience in the program. She explained how it improved her practical, computer and English language skills. She finally thanked her parents, teachers, the company she is training at and Dual Studies team for their continuous support for her and for the other students.

The ceremony was drawn to an end with the university honoring Dual Studies students for their achievements.
